This year we finally became operative. Two events enabled us to do so: the encounter with Aldo De Michele, a retired Army officer, who has been active for years with solidarity initiatives mainly related to the construction of water wells in various African countries, and Enrico Carretta, who has been living in Zambia for over 20 years and is actively involved in solidarity in that country as project manager for international NGOs.
As our first project, we planned to build two schools, a kindergarten and a primary school, in the village of Kaulembe, in Eastern Province, the poorest of Zambia’s 10 provinces.
Thankfully, in addition to donations from our supporters, we were able to count on funds raised in previous years and also on the financial support of Aldo De Michele’s ASD Evergreen Sport.
We started work on 24 March, suspended it shortly afterwards for a short period due to Covid 19, and on 2 December, we handed over the two schools, which became operative immediately.
In a year of particular difficulty throughout the world due to the severe pandemia, we managed to build two fully equipped and functioning schools from scratch in just 8 months!
This is an achievement that makes us proud and encourages us to continue with the core project of our Association: training
