On 15 December, Cyclone Chido devastated the island of Mayotte, with gusts of up to 225 km/h. Although to a lesser degree, the effects were also felt in Mozambique and Zambia.
The strong winds caused our kindergarten roof in Kaulembe to be blown over, no damage to the primary school fortunately..
The villagers, having no resources to cope, asked us to help them. Over the past weeks, the residents removed the old, destroyed roofing, we financed the purchase of the new materials and then completely rebuilt the school roof.
Finally, on Monday 17, classes were able to resume and, as you can see from the photos, the children were able to return to their kindergarten.
Kaulembe is a project that works, with the children, both kindergarten and primary school, working triple shifts due to a shortage of buildings.
We couldn’t leave them alone…..
