Schools built and handed over.
On Wednesday 2 December, in Kaulembe, the handover ceremony to the local community of the early childhood and primary school built by our association, Santina Gusmini Onlus, took place. Attended: our partner in Zambia, Mr. Enrico Carretta, the people of the village, the Chipangali District Educational Board Secretary and the Natural Sciences Senior Education Standards Officer.
Unfortunately for the well-known restrictions due to Covid 19, none of us were able to attend. But we believe it is a enormous emotion to see the photos, which we share with you, of the people of the village celebrating, the women dancing, the children smiling, for the great gift that the community has received. Basically, the huge satisfaction of having built two schools in so far place, just in 9 months, having we started in mid-March, in so difficult year all over the world, is associated with the great emotion of seeing the our first project completed with both schools dedicated to Santina Gusmini.
This event sounds incredible!
But the stubbornness of all of us was rewarded and we finished our project. All we done, would not have been realized without the teamwork of our members and the basic help of many people who have allowed us to get up to here.
Please, let me give a special thanks to our friend, Mr. Aldo De Michele, who introduced us to this opportunity and supported us in every way, personally and by his Evergreen Sport Association, now our partner; to Mr. Enrico Carretta and his Pamodzi Ndi Ana Association,
indispensable to give us logistic support, but thank you, thank you, thank you, to all our donors, who have strongly helped us, sometimes surprising us for the trust in our plans.
Without all of you, those children could never have had a normal school and kindergarten as they deserve. We looked like dreamers and visionaries but conversely …
Now, two additional infos.
The restrictions, due to Covid, prevented any of our steps for raising funds. Everything has been blocked: dinners, meetings, street markets and all we thought of. Shortly we will have to make the last payment for the schools built, as per the contract we published, and we have not almost a third of this amount. Solvency is out of the question: our Board of Directors will personally pay the needed amount. Lastly, after Christmas holidays, we will meet Enrico Carretta, from today in Italy, but in quarantine and we will plan with him an even more ambitious project to be carried out again in Zambia. We do not want to anticipate anything until we have, as always, the authorization or invitation of the local authorities.
