During our recent journey to Zambia, we visited the village of Mkanda Mateyo, where we will build our fourth kindergarten.
Construction work will start next year, as the rainy season seems to be early this year.
In the village, over 500 children attend the primary school and 120 the kindergarten, as you can see from the attached photo, and there are eight teachers.
Among them, we happily met volunteer teacher Elisabeth Lungu, whom we trained in the previous annual course, who, as you can see, was wearing our T-shirt received on graduation day. She was the youngest of the group, but with great determination and desire to learn. In the photos you can unfortunately also see the space (…..) currently reserved for ECE teaching : a thatched roof and nothing more.
We believe that these children deserve something better.
