But is a hurdles race!
Once again, when everything seemed to be going well, new obstacles stand in the path, so hardly started. We were working on three fronts:
-
- the educational project
- the memorandum of understanding with Mr. Kedikilwe trust
- the preparation and drafting of the textbook and workbook required
About the first point, dr. Rita Florenti, our pedagogist, had prepared (for the second time …) the Educational Project according the last instructions received by the BQA curriculum development specialist met by Prof. Boriani.
For the memorandum of understanding, we were preparing the drafting of the broad outlines, waiting to complete it, after the Ministry had shown Mr. Pari the schools potentially usable.
For the textbook, we contacted the University of Bergamo, and specifically the Director of the Faculty of Human Sciences, Prof. Giuseppe Bertagna, asking him the availability of the university to draw up for us the Manual, obtaining an agreement in principle.
The meeting of Prof. Boriani with Mr. Ofentse, former development specialist, now with a different role in BQA and later with the substitute, Ms Bokeseng, had clarified (??) to us, as our Educational Project was not formally comply, as requested by the Department, although all topics and subtopics required, were all exhaustively included. A work that, to a first estimate, forced us to prepare 1925 slides. Considering half hour of work for each one, about 1,000 hours of work !!
For a formal matter….
We should point as this matter in the previous meetings had never been explained ( on the contrary our work had been appreciated) and as already, between the old and the new developer, there was inhomogeneity of interpretation of the regulatory requirements of the Ministry.
At this point, the Association believes that it is essential to proceed according to the rules and with the purposeful attitude emerged from the meetings of January 2015.
The Botswana Project, as had been agreed at that time, needs warranties around the mutual commitments, effective care of the Ministry, certitude of timing on future initiatives.
The “step by step” policy, carried out by some officials of the Ministry, which leads us to work with new obstacles that suddenly materialize, has become too exhausting and no longer acceptable.
That’s why we decided to proceed by entrusting to the University of Bergamo, the task of creating for us the Textbook, the Workbook and the Facilitator that we have been requested by the BQA.
It will take longer, but they will certainly do a better job than us, preparing a product of excellent quality, tailor made expressly for Botswana, complete with all the arguments required by the Ministry, besides from ourselves.
At the same time, we asked the people involved in recent talks, to proceed with the preparation of a third journey to Botswana to plan the logistic and bureaucratic aspects of the project: provision of buildings, job permits, agreements, visiting the involved villages.
At the same time, we asked the people involved in recent talks, to proceed with the preparation of a third journey to Botswana to plan the logistic and bureaucratic aspects of the project: provision of buildings, job permits, agreements, visit plan of villages interested.
Therefore we wait for the next answers of the University of Bergamo and the Ministries of Botswana, hoping they are positive and we keep a close and constant cooperation with Mr. Kedikilwe and his Trust.
