We finally received the final draft of the monitoring carried out by the  teacher trainers to evaluate the effects of our work.

We were delighted that it was certified by the Provincial Office of the Ministry of Education.

We decided to do this, both as a due act towards our donors, and to see how and whether to repeat the volunteer teacher training course in another District of the Province.

These were the main questions:

1) Are the schools we built  up and running?

2) What happened to the girls and boys we trained as volunteer teachers?

3) Do they use in teaching what we taught them in the training course?

4) Why did some leave us?

5) What does the Zambian Ministry of Education think of our work?

Here are the answers:

1) Our schools are fully functional and active. Molozi was handed over last year, but the Kaulembe schools on 2 December 2020. The primary houses 358 children, the kindergarten about half. They do forced triple shifts;

2) In 2 years, we have trained 18 new volunteer teachers. Of these 13 teach in ECE class, 5 have left us: read the document to find out why. In any case, 72% remained in their villages, where there was nothing for pre-school children, and now they look after them competently;

3) They all use what they learnt in the training course. Verified by the examiners who attended one lesson in each school;

4) The two main reasons were: relocation by marriage and too poor remuneration. These boys are paid by the village community and in some cases were paid 300 Zambian Kwacha (10 Euros) per month. We have asked that the fees go up to 25/30 Euros per month

5) The Ministry is fully aware of our activity, shares the objectives and has appreciated the results.
