A nursery school and a training course for volunteer teachers
in memory of Giuseppe Fortunato.
On 15 and 16 November, we went to Viggiano (PZ), invited to a meeting arranged by the Viggiano Vibes APS Association to commemorate a very dear friend of theirs, as well as a founder of the Association, who had died prematurely less than three months earlier.
The members, all very young girls and boys from the village, had decided that their friend Giuseppe should be remembered with some concrete and lasting initiative, that would testify his watch out for others.
We were asked to attend, to explain to all members, to the parents and relatives of the missing guy, to some local companies and authorities, when and how, we would build a nursery school and train volunteer teachers in Zambia.
Everyone liked our projects and Viggiano Vibes will finance both.
So, in December the first annual training course for 10 volunteer ECE teachers in memory of Giuseppe Fortunato will begin and in April 2025 will start the construction of a kindergarten dedicated to him.
They were two days full, especially of emotions.
We were struck by how cohesive the entire community was in perpetuating the memory of their fellow citizen.
But we were particularly impressed by the sensitivity of the Vibes guys in involving their friend’s parents in their initiatives and the determination of all of them to remember him.
Thank you guys, thank you Viggiano.
We will do our best to honour the guy who has now also become our friend.
